Wellbeing in the East
This programme was funded by The Big Lottery Fund, between 2007-2011. It supported innovative approaches to improving wellbeing, finding the most effective ways to improve the health and quality of life of communities and people in need.
Wellbeing in the East was accessible to people across the whole of the east of England, but it also focussed on supporting those in some of the most vulnerable groups; Armed Forces Families, Looked After Children and those using Food banks.
Activity was in 3 core areas;
1: Mental Health – to help people and communities improve their mental wellbeing
2: Physical Activity – to help people to become more physically active in their daily lives and in their communities
3: Healthy Eating – for more children, parents and the wider community to eat more healthily
There were many positive outcomes to this work, including the impact of the ‘All Being Well’ Roadshow which reached 250,000 people during the period of project delivery. Independent evaluation showed that project helped:
- 87,000 to become more physically active
- 98,000 to eat more healthily
- 22,500 to improve their mental wellbeing
