Evaluating what works...

evaluationEnable East has been delighted to work on a number of evaluations recently, looking at the effectiveness and impact of the services local charities provide for the people within their communities.

One of the latest evaluations to be published was that of the ‘Supporting Carers in Essex’ service; a collaboration of six local organisations who brought together a wealth of knowledge and experience in how to best support carers.

We initially carried out surveys with those who had accessed the services, as well as speaking to staff and volunteers to understand what the services offered the local community, and what impact they had had on people’s lives.

Following analysis of data and collating feedback from stakeholders, Enable East created an overall picture of the service and broke down the areas into focused chunks, highlighting areas of good practice and providing suggestions for improvement.

Evaluations such as these are an invaluable tool for charities looking to secure future funding as they demonstrate the value their service adds to the community. They are also a fantastic way of celebrating the incredible work that is carried out in charities and not-for-profit organisations all over the country.
