Introducing Claire from Marks Tey
Claire has not worked for 5 years as she had been caring for a family member and had her own medical issues, resulting in being signed off sick. She felt that she was neither physically or mentally in the right place to start looking for work and had started experiencing anxiety and panic attacks. In her own words she was “not in a good place”.
Claire heard about HeadsUp through her Community Matron and is now participating in the programme. She took the step to phone and made an appointment as she wanted to make changes to her life by taking positive steps towards finding work.
In particular she wanted to build on her communication skills, confidence, CV writing, making new contacts and attending the HeadsUp workshops.
Whilst she is still extremely worried about many things Claire says she has gained more confidence in herself. “There is still work to be done, but I am more confident with going out. I challenge my fears, like driving my car further, and I’m more confident making phone calls”.
Claire values what HeadsUp has to offer and says [she was] “given a lot of support, advice and information, they have helped me gain more confidence in myself. I wasn’t sure what to expect, I was all over the place at the time. I worried about how they were going to see me. They put me at ease. I didn’t feel judged – I felt supported.”
